CupCaps
What is the Best Straw to Use with Tenura CupCaps
As sustainability becomes an increasingly vital consideration, the demand for reusable straws has grown significantly. In this blog post, we will discuss reusable straws and explore the best options to pair with the Tenura CupCap our drinking aid. The CupCap, a versatile and reliable spill-proof lid, can greatly benefit from the right straw choice. So, let's dive in and discover which reusable straw will enhance your Tenura CupCap experience.
Stainless Steel Straws:
Stainless steel straws are a top choice for many eco-conscious individuals. They offer durability, ease of cleaning, and can withstand both hot and cold beverages. With the Tenura CupCap, a stainless steel straw complements its robust design, ensuring a reliable sipping experience every time. The sleek and modern appearance of stainless steel straws adds a touch of elegance to your drink. Additionally, stainless steel straws come in various sizes and shapes, such as straight or curved, allowing you to customise your sipping experience further.
Silicone Straws:
Silicone straws are an excellent option if you prioritise flexibility and safety. Their soft and flexible nature makes them ideal for use with the Tenura CupCap, as they can easily manoeuvre around the lid's openings. Silicone straws are also suitable for both hot and cold beverages, ensuring versatility. The Tenura CupCap's spill-proof design combined with a silicone straw offers a reliable and mess-free drinking experience. Regularly cleaning and sterilising silicone straws will help maintain their hygiene and extend their lifespan.
Glass Straws:
If you prefer an aesthetic and visually appealing option, glass straws might be the perfect fit for your Tenura CupCap. Glass straws offer a clear view of your drink, making your sipping experience visually pleasing. The transparency of glass straws allows you to see if they are completely clean and free from residue. With their non-toxic properties and ease of cleaning, glass straws provide a safe and eco-friendly alternative. Additionally, some glass straws come with decorative elements or artistic designs, adding a touch of sophistication to your drink.
Bamboo Straws:
For those seeking an organic and biodegradable option, bamboo straws are worth considering. Bamboo straws align perfectly with the sustainability ethos, offering a natural and eco-friendly choice. With their lightweight design, they complement the portable nature of the Tenura CupCap, making them convenient for on the go use. Bamboo straws also add a rustic and earthy charm to your drink. However, keep in mind that bamboo straws may absorb flavours over time and may require more frequent replacement compared to other types. Proper care and regular drying can help prolong the lifespan of bamboo straws.
When it comes to choosing the best straw to pair with your Tenura CupCap, silicone straws emerge as the superior option. The main reason for this being that silicone is anti-microbial, meaning bacteria doesn’t harbour onto the surface unlike other straw options. Offering unmatched flexibility and safety, silicone straws effortlessly navigate the lid's openings, ensuring a spill-proof and hassle-free drinking experience. They are suitable for both hot and cold beverages, providing versatility in use. While other options like stainless steel, glass, and bamboo straws have their merits, silicone straws excel in terms of functionality and ease of use with the Tenura CupCap drinking aid. By selecting silicone straws, you can enhance your drinking experience while actively reducing single-use plastic waste. Choose sustainability and enjoy your favorite beverages with the Tenura CupCap and silicone straws, making a positive impact on the environment, one sip at a time.
As you can see in the table, only the silicone straw is fully suitable.
Making Sports Accessible Inspired by Beijing Winter Paralympics
Winter Paralympics 2022, are you ready?
This quadrennial event is ready to take place in Beijing this year. It will commence on Friday the 4th to the 13th of March. Channel 4 is where you can tune in to watch the games.
Some Interesting Facts about the Paralympics
The Winter Paralympics debuted in Sweden in 1976, 16 years after the Summer Paralympics started and 80 years after the first modern Olympic games were held.
The United States has the most Paralympic medals to its name, 2,598, of which 919 are gold. The country that has won the most Winter Paralympic medals is Austria, and they’ve won a total of 332 medals, of which 104 were gold.
The mascot for the Winter Paralympic games is a cartoon version of a Chinese lantern, and the design encompasses traditional Chinese paper cutting and Ruyi ornaments. The name of this mascot is Shuey (snow), Rhon (to include, to tolerate), Rhon (to melt, to fuse), 雪容融.The design of the character and name promotes inclusion with the aim of increasing communication between world cultures and the inclusion of people with disabilities.
There are Six Terms to Segment the Athletes:
The classification within the Paralympics can help keep the competition fair and safe as sports can be dangerous. The six segments are as follows:
- Amputee
- Cerebral Palsy
- Intellectual Disability
- Wheelchair
- Vision Impaired
- Others
There are Six Winter Paralympic Sports
Most Winter Paralympic sports are broken down by disability with two main categories; vision impairments and physical impairments.
The Olympics have 15 winter sports, and the Paralympics have 6, and these sports are divided into 2 categories, snow sports and ice sports. Ice sports are played in mixed teams, meaning both men and women compete simultaneously.

The latest of these winter paralympic sports to be sanctioned by the IPC is Snowboarding, first introduced at the Sochi Paralympic Winter Games 2014.
In the UK, there are over 50 ice rinks, of which many offer disability assistance to help those with disabilities learn and take up the sport. The UK is certainly making an effort to make snow sports accessible, and it’s thanks to trainers getting additional training to support those with disabilities and the advancements in technology and adaptive equipment.
The Paralympics gets praise for its inclusivity, and rightly so; however, disabled women have only recently been allowed to compete in Para Ice Hockey (2010).
Let’s Explore Some of the Adaptations to these Sports
Sports can be dangerous and challenging, so having adapted equipment to ensure that you are safe and perform at peak performance leads to success. There are many ways to make sports accessible. We are taking a look at how you can adapt preexisting equipment and accessories to make sports more accessible to persons with disabilities.
How to Make Sports More Accessible with Tenura Products
Let’s look at ways Tenura products can help disabled people participate in sports and adapt their equipment for better results and comfort.
Taking On And Off Your Snow Boots
For many snow sports, you will require snow boots, and they can be tricky to take on and off, so we suggest you use a Tenura non-slip floor mat to help. Place the snow boot onto the floor mat to keep it in place whilst you put on the boots. Floor mats help with mobility and increased grip.
Drying Out Your Equipment
Snow melts and causes wet puddles, but thanks to the lattice structure of Tenura non-slip fabric, your equipment will be able to dry out above the water. You can place your boots or skis upon the fabric to help dry and air them out.
CupCaps to Prevent Spillages
If you have had plenty of practice at your snow sport, you may be able to take a drink on the go, and we suggest you use a Tenura CupCap to ensure your drinks container is spillproof.
Adapting your equipment to be more disability-friendly can help when it comes to participating and taking up hobbies in sports. If you have any more ideas, you would like to share. You can do so via our socials (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn).
Let’s make Halloween Accessible for the Disabled
We don’t want anyone left out of Halloween celebrations, so we are continually developing new innovative ways to make Halloween accessible for all. Read on to get some great ideas and find products that can help bring the experience to life.
Some simple swaps can make Halloween more accessible.
Swap Face Masks for Face Paint
Instead of using masks as a part of the fancy dress experience, use face paint.
For visually impaired children, masks can hinder their sight, and for children who rely on lip-reading, masks can obstruct a person’s mouth. Children with autism sometimes have sensory sensitivities, and masks could be too intensely stimulating.
The best alternative is face paint, as you can adapt the design to be more inclusive and suitable for various conditions and disabilities.
Trick or Treating
If you plan on venturing outside, make sure you have the relevant mobility aids for children, making the experience as comfortable as possible.
Youngsters who use a wheelchair and need help manoeuvring in and out of it can use non-slip floor mats. Floor mats can give the child the support and grip required to manoeuvre into their wheelchair. Whilst out and about, feet don’t always stay on the wheelchair footrest, but having grip roll that’s stuck to the footplate prevents feet from slipping off, avoiding injury and maintaining comfort.
A trial run of the trick or treat route you will take, completed a day before, can help reassure children.
Adults and children alike can have allergies. One of the most common is a nut allergy, so make sure you stock a variety of treats that all children can enjoy, which avoids children feeling left out and prevents them from consuming foods that cause an allergic reaction.
Sometimes drinks are given out as all the candy has run out, or the child requires a drink at the end of trick or treating. Either way, you may need a bottle opener. At Tenura, we have a grip-enhancing bottle opener that helps you open bottles with more comfort and grip.
Rather than going outside and trick or treating, you can hide the treats around the house as a treasure hunt. You can place them in areas you know are manageable for children at the party.
Prevent Spillages
Some children have trouble with their hand-eye coordination. But placing sweet bowls and drinks on anti-slip table mats and drinks coasters can prevent spillages. They are brightly coloured, so easy to see. Tenura mats are also easy to wipe down and protect furniture from stains.
It may be a good idea to take a drink out with you whilst you trick or treat, and a Tenura silicone CupCap drinks cover can make any drinks container spill-proof.
Pumpkin Carving
Carving pumpkins is a staple of Halloween, but it can be dangerous. By sliding Tenura children’s cutlery grips onto the carving knife, the child’s grip is maintained on the knife’s handle, making the knife less likely to slip out of their hand. Children’s cutlery grips make handles larger and easier to hold. Some children have difficulty grasping thin handles, so this is a perfect way to make pumpkin carving accessible.
To prevent the pumpkin from moving whilst you carve, you can place it on a Tenura anti-slip table mat.
If your child cannot participate in pumpkin carving, consider sticking items such as colourful pom-poms, fluffy pipe cleaners, and googly eyes to the pumpkin instead, which significantly reduces any risks involved.
Mark Your Home
Let others know that people in the home have conditions that require patience and understanding. You can do this by placing a sign visible to those coming up your driveway. Parents can read the sign and educate their children before approaching the door.
We hope these tips and tricks have given you some inspiration to make Halloween more accessible for various disabilities. If you have any other ideas you would like to share, let us know via our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram).
Happy Halloween!
New Tenura Video: Children's Assistive Devices
Tenura creates and manufactures helpful assistive devices for children to make life a little simpler. Tenura's ergonomically designed children's products are beneficial during play and mealtimes. The three gadgets on show in the video are Tenura children's cutlery grips, CupCaps and non-slip mats. You can use these products to promote the development of fine motor skills like handwriting.
Skills such as handwriting and properly using cutlery, may not seem necessary. However, they are the foundation to key life skills, and by using and practising with cutlery, the child's brain develops fine motor skills.
Fine motor skills are the movements we make using our smaller muscles for intricate tasks, a task in our daily lives that requires such skill is fastening the buttons on your top, tying shoelaces, writing and correctly using cutlery.
Children who do not practice fine motor skills often have low self-esteem because they are unable to complete the same tasks as their peers. So, let's make sure your child is happy and prepared for life by encouraging their development using Tenura children's products.
Explore the benefits of our Children's Range:
Children's Cutlery Grips
Children can struggle to hold items with thin handles as it requires fine motor skills and coordination. Typically, children can feed themselves by age seven, having acquired these skills through years of practice. You may not give it much thought but grasping smaller objects requires a more extensive range of movement, which is why some children struggle to hold cutlery. To help your child, slide Tenura children's cutlery grips onto handles, enlarging their surface area and making them more comfortable to hold. Some great examples include:
- Toothbrushes
- Paintbrushes
- Pens and Pencils
- Hairbrushes
Children's cutlery grips come in a pack of two and are available in three colours, red, blue and grey.
For larger hands, we have ergonomically designed adult cutlery grips.
Children's Table Mats
Arts and crafts are a treasured pastime for all children, often consisting of paint, pens and glue, all of which can leave horrifying marks on your furniture. However, by using a Tenura children's mat as a barrier between the table and their art, you can protect your surfaces and keep the mess contained. Tenura mats are easy to wash/wipe down and are dishwasher safe.
The mat's silicone non-slip properties prevent spillages, as paint pots and other mess-making supplies are securely held in place by the children's mat.
There are two funky shaped children's mats available, an orange cat and a green frog.
Tenura CupCaps – Silicone Drink Lids
We are all prone to knocking over drinks, especially children, whose bodies are growing and don't have the best spatial awareness. With that in mind, CupCaps can be an ideal help. CupCaps are stretchy silicone drink lids that create a seal over the top of containers to keep the liquid inside and avoid spillages. Stretch the drinks cap over your cup, insert a straw through the eyelet and away you go, mess-free.
Benefits of Tenura Children's Assistive Devices
Tenura’s three assistive devices for children are made from silicone, which means that have fantastic qualities, which include:
- Non-Toxic
- An essential feature as children tend to put things in their mouth, so the last thing you want is the object to be toxic
- Antimicrobial
- Bacteria can't harbour on the mat's surface. Your child has a developing immune system, so it is crucial to reduce the risk of infection/illness
- Latex-Free
- Your child could be allergic to latex, and you may not be aware
- Easy to hand wash and dishwasher safe
- Tenura children's products can withstand temperatures up to 250°C

Developing Fine Motor Skills in Children
Performing actions with increased frequency positively affects how smooth, fast and accurate the motion can be completed in the future, becoming ingrained in 'muscle memory'.
As for a child learning how to write, years of practice go by to develop the skill. If you have ever tried to practice the art form, calligraphy, you will realise what it was like when first beginning writing. You have to train your hand to complete the same motion each time ensuring every letter is identical in style. You have to train your body to make those exact motions.
By repetitively completing actions, you also build up the strength in the muscles involved in that movement, especially supportive muscles required for fine motor skills. As these improvements continue, the brain takes note and sends out altered signals each time, which is, of course, why practice makes perfect.
To help develop this skill in your children, you should practice activities such as colouring/drawing, tracing, cutting, writing, playing with playdough and using cutlery when eating.

Twisting open jars full of treats or in this case, Nutella, is much easier if you use a grip-enhancing Tenura jar opener.
Tenura CupCaps (Drinks Cover)
Tenura CupCaps creates a seal around the top of your drinks container. The seal stops liquid from escaping, helping you to avoid spillages. Another great feature of Tenura’s drinks cover is it prevents debris from entering your drink, as you can see in our Halloween video.
Tenura Non-Slip Mats
When doing Halloween crafts such as carving a pumpkin or tucking into a Halloween themed feast, Tenura mats can be a great help. They protect your tables from marks, they’re easy to wipe down and are non-slip which keep objects securely in place, helping you avoid slips and spillages.
Tenura Cutlery Grips
Carving a pumpkin is a staple of Halloween, but for people who have hand impairments, it can be incredibly tricky and unpleasant. However, if you slip Tenura cutlery grips onto your cutlery/carving knife, they create a larger handle which increases comfort and grip.
Tenura Grip Rolls
You can cut Tenura grip roll down to size to create bespoke non-slip surfaces, for instance, in the video, we have wrapped Tenura grip roll around the handle of a butter knife. Daily living – How to Make Meal Times Easier
Everyday life is full of little challenges and tasks which the healthiest and able-bodied people find difficult or tiring. These tasks include Hoovering, cooking, hanging the washing out and many other tasks in day to day life.
All of these tasks are important in day to day life but can be tiring and difficult to fit into a busy lifestyle. These tasks become even harder when suffering from impairments or diseases such as Arthritis, which affect your grip and motor functions. Suddenly these tasks are near impossible without strain on muscles and joints, usually accompanied by lots of pain. This can pose a threat to your independent living and general lifestyle. Luckily, Tenura has a wide range of products which can be combined to help in all areas of the home.
In this blog post, we will be focusing on how different diseases and motor impairing injuries can affect a very important part of daily life. How to make mealtimes easier!
Whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner, mealtimes can be stressful and exhausting, especially with a young family. There can be spills, stains, arguments and tears. This is something we can all do without, especially when hot liquids or food can ruin clothes, burn skin or make a big mess which someone (usually you) will have to clean up. Tenura can provide high quality daily living aids designed to prevent spills and stains, make cutlery easier to hold, and keep plates and dishes steady.
Rectangular Mats
Tenura anti slip rectangular mats are ideal for placing on trays, tables and at the bottom of chairs or stools. Tenura rectangular anti slip mats create a strong non slip grip with any flat surface they are placed upon, and any object placed on its surface. This will help to keep plates, dishes, and bowls at the dinner table from sliding, helping to prevent potential spills and stains. These mats are constructed from an anti-microbial silicone, meaning no bacteria or germs can harbour or grow on this material. Tenura mats are also very easy to clean, a simple application of soap and warm water will be more than enough to clean off any dirt or grime that may build up after a prolonged usage. After this material has dried, it will regain all non-slip properties, allowing it to be used again and again.
Tenura anti slip rectangular mats can also be found in a larger floor mat design. This mat has a textured non slip surface, designed to have shoes or boots resting on it. This mat can be placed at the bottom of beds, chairs, and even toilets. This will help to stop your feet from slipping, which could lead to a serious injury, especially for those who have trouble walking freely. This mat is also really useful for wheelchair users. This mat can be carried with you on the go with ease, then placed down in front of you on a flat surface. This mat will provide a strong surface for you to stand and sit, without the chance of your feet slipping and sliding from underneath you.
Tenura anti slip mats can be found in many different sizes and in different colours to suit your needs.
Coasters
In day to day life, we all have clumsy moments which can lead to spills and stains which you have to clean up. We have all knocked a fresh cup of tea or coffee all over the floor. Tenura coasters are there to safeguard against this problem by creating a surface in-between the cup and table and stop the cup from moving. Unfortunately if you have a coaster on a particularly shiny and slippery table, this can move around and slide, potentially spilling the cup, mug or glasses contents all over your table, work surface or breakfast bar. This can not only create one big mess, but could lead to slips and falls which could lead to serious injury.
Thankfully Tenura has a wide range of silicone anti slip coasters, in many different sizes and shapes, designed to prevent objects from sliding around and accommodate all size of cups and mugs. Tenura square coasters are made from a silicone rubber, meaning they have excellent grip qualities. This will help to prevent objects from moving on the table and cups and mugs from potentially spilling over by creating a strong non slip surface with the table it is placed on and the cup which rests on its surface. This product comes in a pack of four and is ideal for use all around the home and even in the workplace.
Tenura can also offer Anti-microbial cup holders. This product is designed to be attached to the bottom of cups and mugs, allowing you to create a portable non slip surface. This allows the cup or mug to be moved anywhere around the house without needing a coaster or cover to prevent damage or spillage on surfaces. Tenura cup holders can be applied and removed from cups with ease without leaving a residue. This product can be washed and used again and again once dry.
Tenura coasters are a great help in day to day life by providing a strong non-slip surface to rest all manner of containers and cups/mugs on, preventing them from slipping and sliding which could cause spills and stains. Tenura anti slip circular coasters are one such product. Tenura circular coasters create a strong non-slip grip over a large area of any flat surface. This coaster can be found in two sizes, 14cm & 19cm, making it perfect for cups and mugs or bigger items like bowls, plates, food containers and many other items. This materials non-slip grip will help to stop spills and stains which could occur due to unwanted movement from the container. By creating a strong non-slip surface, this massively decreases the chance of spills, making day to day life easier and eating/drinking safer. Like all of our coasters, Tenura circular coasters will not harbor bacteria or grime. This is thanks to its Anti-microbial construction. Tenura coasters can also be washed with ease and will regain all non slip properties again once dry.
Cutlery Grips
Arthritis, hand impairments and diseases which affect motor function can make meal times a hassle, especially when it comes to handling utensils such as knives, forks, and spoons. With arthritis affecting a persons ability to grip items effectively, as well as causing discomfort and pain, this makes the idea of meal times a daunting experience. Tenura cutlery grips are designed to make this sort of task and many others a lot easier.
Tenura cutlery grips are a large non slip handle, designed to allow knives, forks, and spoons to be slipped in with ease, instantly increasing the size and enhancing the surface area for the user to grip and make the cutlery easier to hold. This can make meal times a much more pleasant experience, and help to reduce pain and discomfort for those who suffer from hand and grip impairments. Cutlery grips can be easily washed and are anti-microbial, meaning no bacteria or dirt will harbour on its surface. Tenura cutlery grips come in a pack of 2, allowing you to create an enhanced grip on knives, forks or spoons at the same time, without the need for constant switching of utensils.
Cupcaps
Tenura Cupcaps create a seal over cups, mugs and cans, preventing spills and stains, and keep drinks fresher for longer. This anti-microbial silicone material can be stretched over the top of cups and mugs with ease, leaving a straw hole in the middle to allow liquid out of the container. Cupcaps are perfect for hot and cold liquids, and can be washed with ease. This product is ideal for those who suffer from grip impairments or diseases like Parkinson's, were uncontrollable shaking or movement may cause spills. By creating a seal over the top of the material, this virtually eradicates spills, and to drink, simply place a straw into the middle valve inside the Cupcap. This allows you a lot more freedom as to where you can go with a beverage and when you can drink it. A good example of this would be when in a moving car or getting from one part of the house to the other!
Tenura Cupcaps come in a pack of two one larger 80mm Cupcap and a smaller 60mm one. This allows you to cover and protect yourself and your surroundings from multiple drinks spilling. This could potentially cause damage, nasty stains or a slippery mess which could lead to a fall. Tenura Cupcaps have strong non slip qualities when dry, and can be used multiple times over on cups, mugs and cans.
By combining Tenura’s wide range of daily living aids, you can re-claim dinner times and make all the tasks involved from preparation to simply taking a drink much easier.
Tenura’s wide range of daily living aids will help to make mealtimes easier, making them a pleasure rather than a chore.

How to Use Tenura Silicone Anti Microbial Moulded Cup Holders
Spillages are a common nuisance in day-to-day life, creating a mess that can take time and effort to clean up. Spills can also lead to slips and falls, which can cause serious injury. Diseases like Parkinson’s and Arthritis make people very prone to spills and messes due to the effect the disease has on their movement. Luckily, Tenura has created another daily living aid. It has a strong non-slip surface and works well when placed under your cup or mug. It’s a Tenura Cup Holder!
Tenura silicone antimicrobial moulded cup holder works just like a regular drinks coaster but it's fitted to the bottom of a cup or mug. This allows you to take an anti-slip grip drinks holder wherever you need it, helping to prevent nasty spills and stains in day-to-day life. Hot liquids can create very unpleasant spills and messes, especially if spilt on yourself or others. Tenura cup holders can provide a firm non-slip surface to help prevent this from happening. The silicone drinks holder will also catch any small spills, preventing stains on clothing, fabrics, or tables and chairs.
Tenura cup holders can be applied to the base of many cups or mugs with ease, take your cup or mug and slip it into the seat inside the cup holder. Your Tenura silicone drinks holder will then form a non-slip grip underneath and around the cup, preventing it from moving. Silicone cup holders will also form a strong grip with any flat surface it is placed upon, preventing unwanted movement, which could lead to the cup being knocked over.
Tenura cup holders have antimicrobial properties, another brilliant benefit! No bacteria or dirt can grow or harbor on Tenura silicone. A combination of hot water and soap is more than enough to keep a silicone cup holder clean and hygienic, ready for its next use. Tenura cup holders are also made from 100% non-toxic silicone, meaning no harmful chemicals like phthalates are present in Tenura cup holders, keeping you and your family safe from the damage these chemicals can cause.
Tenura CupCaps are a great product to combine with Tenura cup holders to help prevent spills and stains when lifting and drinking from cups, cans, and mugs! CupCaps create a strong seal over the top of most cups, mugs and glasses, preventing the liquid from spilling while allowing you to drink through a straw that can be placed through a small eyelet in the middle of the CupCap. This can be done by simply stretching the silicone CupCap over the top of a cup, mug or can. Your silicone CupCap will then form a strong grip with the sides of the container and stop liquid from spilling out.
Tenura cup holders can be found in red, blue, and yellow.
CupCaps can be found a pack of 2 (1 x 80mm CupCap & 1 x 60mm CupCap) both in a translucent blue.
By combining Tenura cup holders with CupCaps, you can minimise the chances of spills and stains while still being able to enjoy hot or cold drinks in the house or on the go!
Tenura cup holders & CupCaps can be found on our website.
How to Use Tenura CupCaps
Spills and stains are something everyone hates and are potentially dangerous for those who don't know they are there. Liquids on any smooth or shiny surface can quickly create a hazard and can lead to serious slip and fall injuries. Hot liquids are also a concern, as spilling them on yourself or another person can cause burns.
Unfortunately for those who suffer from Arthritis, Parkinson's, and other impairments and diseases similar, spills can often happen and can be very tiring to clean up. Tenura CupCaps are drink covers that help to prevent such spills and stains thanks to the complete seal over the top of cups, mugs, and cans.
Tenura CupCaps are silicone drink covers that come in a pack of two, one measuring 80mm in diameter and the other 60mm—allowing you to create a seal over almost any drinks container.
CupCaps can be placed over most cups, mugs and glasses to create a complete seal over the top, preventing liquid from spilling out of the container. This will stop spills and stains dead in their tracks and allow you to drink from a container without the aforementioned spills.
80mm Tenura CupCaps can be stretched and moulded over almost any cup or glass for cold or hot drinks, allowing you to use this item in the house or on the go. A small eyelet in the middle of the material will allow a straw to be placed. This will let you drink from the container without the chance of a spill. CupCaps can also be used to keep drinks fresher for longer. The silicone-covered drinks container protects from debris, making CupCaps superb drink covers for the outdoors.
Tenura silicone CupCaps are anti-microbial, meaning no bacteria or fungi can grow or live on the material. A simple application of soap and water is enough to keep Tenura cup caps clean and hygienic (CupCaps are dishwasher safe). Tenura CupCaps can be especially useful for small children, as cups and mugs can be dropped or knocked over easily.
Cans are a great way to get a drink on the go, perfect for a quick lunchtime at work. However, a spill with most fizzy drinks can cause untold damage to a work environment, creating a sticky mess on your desk, or all over your equipment. This can happen a lot for those who suffer from diseases like Parkinson's or those who suffer from hand and arm impairment. Luckily, Tenura can offer a solution, an exceptional can drinks cover, the Tenura CupCap!
The 60mm cup cap is a drinks cover that is suitable for smaller drinks containers than its counterpart and will provide a strong seal, helping to prevent spills and stains and keep your drink fresher for longer. The eyelet in the middle of the CupCap allows for the insertion of a straw. Drink from the can without the possibility of spillages.
CupCaps can be applied around cans easily and will stretch to conform to the shape of the can. Stretch the drink cover around the can, making sure the silicone is sealed around the rim of the can, then smooth down the edges of the cup cap to the sides of the can. Treatment for Osteoarthritis is a step closer thanks to recent research!
Those who suffer from Osteoarthritis have to cope with a great deal of pain and discomfort due to their joints becoming damaged. The cartilage between joints becomes hard and thin, and bones become thicker. Eventually, the bones change shape, which causes them to move position. In extreme circumstances where the cartilage completely disappears, the bones rub together, which causes damage and a change of shape in your joint, which is incredibly painful. However, Scientists at the University of Manchester have researched stem cells, with hopes to be able to treat Osteoarthritis!
Research Breakthrough
The researchers at the University of Manchester implanted the cartilage stem cells into damaged cartilage on the knee joints of rats. The following four weeks showed that the cartilage had partially repaired, and after 12 weeks, the cartilage seemed smooth and similar to normal healthy cartilage. This study showed very interesting results and so far, hasn’t shown any inkling of nasty side effects that earlier stem cell research showed, e.g. tumours. This is a big step forward for research into stem cells and the treatment of Osteoarthritis. Much more research will have to be done before human trials are set to go forward, this is to make sure the treatment will have no nasty side effects and test the procedure to see if it will help long term. Researchers have also said that at the moment, they are using adult stems cells, which are very difficult and costly to produce, so only small-scale tests are being made. Regardless of the current problems with production, this research shows a great help for those with Osteoarthritis and, hopefully, in the next few years, will prove an effective treatment for the disease.
How can Tenura help?
Although Tenura doesn’t have the ability to cure or treat impairing diseases, we can provide a selection of independent living aids designed to make small and frequent tasks much easier. Here are some Tenura disability aids that are useful to those with Arthritis:
Tenura anti-slip grip strips are just such an example. Anti-slip grip strips are made from 100% silicone. Therefore, they can be easily wrapped around almost any object you struggle to gain a comfortable grip. Tenura silicone creates a strong, grip-enhancing, and much more comfortable surface around objects, which will make it easier to pick up and use.
Tenura cutlery grips offer similar help. Cutlery grips can be applied to most knives, forks, and other utensils. Once applied, Tenura cutlery grips create a large surface area that is easy to hold and will not stress the joints in your fingers, increasing grip and comfort.
Both Tenura anti-slip grips strips and cutlery grips are non-toxic and antimicrobial, so are safe to use around the home and in areas that require a high level of hygiene, for instance, medical practices. The silicone is easy to wash (dishwasher safe).
Daily living aids provide assistance for those with arthritis and an impaired grip. Tenura has many helpful blogs on disability aids on our website under Blogs - > Arthritis Aids.
You can order disability aids direct from the Tenura website, and those who are VAT Exempt can register to buy Tenura products VAT free. Free shipping is also available on all orders over £50.
